From the Beat to the Boardroom.
Seventeen years of communicating under pressure, from police briefings to Whitehall to the people side of major deals.

I joined the Metropolitan Police at 18. It was where I first learned what communicating under pressure really means.
As a Sergeant and then an Inspector, in the Met and later at Surrey Police, I stood in front of officers and gave briefings that mattered. People needed to know what to do, and they needed to trust the person telling them. A good plan was worth very little if the room didn't believe in it. That lesson has followed me ever since.
From policing I moved into the UK Civil Service in Whitehall, as Head of Culture, Chief of Staff and Head of HR Policy. The rooms changed. The challenge stayed the same. Explain clearly. Stay calm when the questions get hard. Earn trust before you ask for it.
Next came Amazon, where I was Senior Principal, HR Transformation. Change at that scale succeeds or fails on how it is explained to the people living through it.
I then joined EY, and later EY-Parthenon in Dubai as Senior Director and HR M&A Practice Leader for MENA. I worked on the people workstream of more than 60 transactions, on deals worth up to $3.2bn. Boards, investors and employees all wanted to know the same thing: what happens to us?
I have seen good plans lose momentum because leaders struggled to explain them. I have also seen difficult messages land because someone took the time to communicate clearly, calmly and honestly. Trust is not a soft extra. It changes outcomes.
Today I run my own firm. I coach leaders to present and communicate with confidence, I work with leadership teams, and I advise on the people side of deals. I am a Fellow of the CIPD, the CMI and the RSA, and a former CIPD Board Member. I have spoken at CIPD Future of Work and the University of Westminster.
AI can now produce a polished presentation in seconds. It cannot stand in front of a room and earn the trust of the people listening. That is still a human job. Use AI to prepare, then show up as yourself to deliver.
